MLK Service Project

Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service (MLK Day) is the only federal holiday that is also designated by Congress as a national day of service – a “day on, not a day off.” Join CLIC and the Denison Community Association (DCA) to engage in meaningful service projects, honoring Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and legacy and moving us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community. Dr. King’s wife, Coretta Scott King once said, “The greatest birthday gift my husband could receive is if people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds celebrated the holiday by performing individual acts of kindness through service to others.”

We will have four different service project stations on Monday morning with instructions and our staff (or student leaders) providing support:
- Assembling hygiene kits for Newark Homeless Outreach and Buckeye Ranch
- Making blankets for Hospice of Central Ohio and Newark Youth Advocate Program
- Painting inspiration rocks for Together We Grow Gardens and campus
- Writing cards/notes for local nursing homes

The Licking County NAACP will be there sharing information and offering the opportunity to become an NAACP member.

Donuts and coffee will be provided to volunteers.
